  1. Identifying families or individuals in need of psychosocial support or counselling through outreach activities and home visits to refugees and host communities’ households.
  2. Providing accurate referrals when need be; i.e., the social worker will refer patients and clients to IMC supported clinics, hospitals, and centres; in addition to other local NGOs and INGOs.  Moreover, the social worker will dispense information about the various programs and services offered by IMC and its affiliates. 
  3. Coordinate the management of the mental health referrals between IMC Community based mental health care centers and the mhGAP supported primary healthcare centers or IMC MHPSS/health supported PHCs.
  4. Promote the integration of mental health into primary healthcare at 5 PHCs within a geographical area
  5. Conducting awareness sessions for Mental Health
  6. Conducting interviews with service users (Refugees and host population) and their families to assess and review their situation.
  7. Completing intake assessments, evaluations, treatment recommendations, reviews, and other documentation as necessary. 
  8. Conducting home visits to beneficiaries when needed
  9. Work closely with IMC MHPSS manager to support case management teams in implementation of MHPSS activities
  10. Prioritize trainings and team meetings in IMC as required by the direct supervisor.



  • Reporting directly to IMC MHPSS manager
  • Write monthly reports to be submitted regularly and providing timely updates as required
  • Meeting required deadlines.


  • Experience in working closely with community members throughout a program cycle
  • Experience in or understanding of program accountability principles
  • Knowledge of, respect and empathy for the communities we are working with
  • Commitment to championing community and partner points of view
  • Strong understanding of the project cycle and of M&E systems
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Non-discriminatory and readiness to involve men, women, girls and boys from diverse backgrounds, particularly the most marginalized segments of the community
  • Very good listening and facilitation skills – capable of managing and facilitating group discussions with program participants, local officials, partners and all levels of staff
  • Ability to mobilize people – to develop and maintain relationships with staff and communities to ensure their participation in International Medical Corps ways of working
